In this video, Griffin, the african grey parrot that Irene Pepperberg works with shows his cognitive abilities. I am working long distance with Griffin to help him overcome his shyness of toys. Once I learn what materials he is most comfortable with, I will construct a toy out of said materials and see if we have a winner. It all sounds so simple, but it is actually a long process, especially since I have to mail the materials in and rely on a student at the Brandis University to present each toy part to Griff and then record is reactions. I feel so blessed to be given this opportunity to do this. ReplyDeleteI feed my birds pellets, fresh fruits and veggies (broccoli and kale are great for birds), some seed, grainy bread (mine love their small piece of toast most mornings), and they also get a bit of my meal if it's bird safe...they love pasta. Timothy adores chicken. I don't give it to him daily, but he devours it when he does get it. As a treat they will get some millet. I also give them NutriBerries hidden in paper, boxes, toys...etc. They love hunting for them.
