PARROT INTELLIGENCE: DR. PEPPERBERG with AFRICAN GREYS GRIFFIN, ALEX & E...

In this video, Griffin, the african grey parrot that Irene Pepperberg works with shows his cognitive abilities. I am working long distance with Griffin to help him overcome his shyness of toys. Once I learn what materials he is most comfortable with, I will construct a toy out of said materials and see if we have a winner. It all sounds so simple, but it is actually a long process, especially since I have to mail the materials in and rely on a student at the Brandis University to present each toy part to Griff and then record is reactions. I feel so blessed to be given this opportunity to do this. If you want to know more about the intelligence of parrots and the great work Irene is doing, go to www.thealexfoundation.com and check it out!

  1. Hey how can I subscribe to your site?

What do you usually feed your birds?

  2. You can follow my site by clicking on the icon for followers. I'm not sure if that will give you updates or not, though. I am still learning all the ropes of blogger myself. :)

I feed my birds pellets, fresh fruits and veggies (broccoli and kale are great for birds), some seed, grainy bread (mine love their small piece of toast most mornings), and they also get a bit of my meal if it's bird safe...they love pasta. Timothy adores chicken. I don't give it to him daily, but he devours it when he does get it. As a treat they will get some millet. I also give them NutriBerries hidden in paper, boxes, toys...etc. They love hunting for them.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, hungrybird. I also make and sell my own bird toys over on Etsy. www.zeeksbeak.etsy.com

  3. I have a site as well and I post tons of pictures of the meals my birds eat. I am always looking for other people who are crazy like me!

How long have you been making your own toys? I started making toys recently and it's a lot of fun.

I like your toys and I also like their names! Have you ever heard of Goldenfeast Golden'Obles?

  4. Hungrybird,

I signed up for email notifications for your site, and look forward to keeping up with you and your birds. I have been making my toys for three years, but just recently began putting more time into making it a true business venture.
